CAFBA ~ NEW MEMBER INFORMATION & APPLICATION

 





CAFBA is always wanting to expand its membership, so as to more comprehensively represent the Equipment Finance industry. A more complete description of our objectives can be found in the About CAFBA section of this website

Full Membership Criteria Comprise:

  • Suitable industry experience and / or education of principals of the firms
    • Applications are considered individually on their own merits.
    • Criteria include: industry experience, educational background, industry reputation, probity checks for CAFBA to know about and deal with any potential police or credit file issues.
    • Suitable industry experience is mandatory. This can be gained as a principal financier, or as an equipment finance broker, or as some combination of the two. If the CAFBA education has been completed, or Tertiary qualifications are held, as little as 2 years industry experience may be adequate. Otherwise somewhat more experience may be sought to compensate.
    • The education objective can be satisfied by completion of, or enrollment in, the CAFBA Asset and Equipment Finance Professional Education Program with our endorsed educational provider, Omega Performance. It can alternatively be fulfilled by applicants having suitable tertiary or TAFE qualifications, OR by having sufficient industry experience that they can be assumed to have a good level of competency.
    • CAFBA seeks to verify that applicants are fit and proper people to become CAFBA members. We seek to achieve this verification by a combination of - a minimum of 3 financier / finance broker references (two of which should be from principal financiers). We also require a police check be completed, and a credit report supplied.

  • Agreement to abide by the CAFBA Code of Conduct (pdf format).

  • Agreement that all new business writers / consultants will be individually accredited by CAFBA as associate members. This includes:
  • Currently it is not a requirement for members to hold Professional Indemnity Insurance, however CAFBA recommends that members have an appropriate policy in place. (Note: CAFBA sponsors a well priced PI group scheme for members wishing to take up PI Cover.)

  • Agreement to pay CAFBA Membership Fees (pdf format) as per schedule.

  • Completion of CAFBA Membership Application Form (pdf format).

  • Approval by the CAFBA Committee.

Associate Memberships:

  • Agreement to abide by the CAFBA Code of Conduct (pdf format).

  • All Associate Members of CAFBA are required to submit a current police record check to comply with the Minimum Membership Standards as laid down at the August 2004 Annual General Meeting. In addition to this, all new members are also required to submit a current Credit check.

  • The Full Member who is sponsoring the Consultant for the CAFBA Associate Membership will submit all the necessary information to the CAFBA Secretariat.

  • Completion of CAFBA Associate Membership Application Form (pdf format).

  • An officer of CAFBA would like to discuss enquiries for this class of membership individually with each potential affiliate member. to initiate this contact request.

either posted to: The Secretariat, P.O. Box 6060, Vermont South 3133
or faxed to: (03) 9802 1769.

They are not distributed or shown to any third party
unless an issue arises pertaining to dishonesty,
in which case referral to the sub-committee consisting of
the President, Vice-President and one Committee member,
will determine the relevancy of the application.
